Mackenzie Farrell

Thirsty?

The sun kissed rose,

The treat of the heat

Cooling along the frozen cubes

Only in a shopkeeper’s mind,

Solely a number: 4958-

A simple code in their memory

A pinched face, they’ve tasted the bitterness

A vacation’s scent

A spritz in the hair on a sunny day

It’s zest the flavor in a morning meal

A questionable ingredient,

Secretively, the base of all that is tasted

So many ways to view this sour fruit,

Are you now quenching for that juice?
