A Walk With Dad

I remember… dad gently gripping my hand
saying “let’s go for a walk”

I remember… him taking my tiny cold hand
In his bear-like warm one

I remember… my lightup shoes flickering
Like the sun, roses, and grass

I remember… walking through the dark green forest
with its tall trees and short prickly grass

I remember… hearing the birds singing in the trees and
Seeing rabbits hopping as they heard us coming

I remember… the cold crisp day when we both had fun

I remember… when my dad said “let’s go home
see mom and watch t.v” in the cozy house
