Sally Brown

Animal Kingdom

To feed its family
The lion tears down its prey
Chewing the bones
Where the body once lay
Licking the paws
Responsible for the slay
Only satisfied
Until the next day

The strong mighty bear
Curls into a ball
Awaiting the sleep
That comes after fall
Life keeps on going
Outside the bear's wall
How lucky he is
To escape from it all

The hardworking ant
Carries ten times its weight
Rushing around
Never early or late
The soles of our shoes
Determine its fate
Insignificant to us
Yet their strength is so great

From the very first day
Dogs are loyal to you
Their unconditional love
Will always be true
They promise to listen
No matter what you do
When you need a friend
They always come through

The white-tailed deer
Is prancing around
Minding her business
And getting shot down
Running for her life
A blur of brown
I hope she gets away
And never is found
