Noise

Waking up to an annoying alarm
Smashing the snooze button with my arm
Parents yelling at me to get out of bed
I wish I could wake up at noon instead
Humming birds are chirping in the morning
Hot water is running in the shower
The engine of the car is a warning
Telling me school starts in half an hour
The radio in the vehicle blasts in my ear
The song stuck in my head won’t clear
So many thoughts bouncing around in my brain
If you listened to them all you’d think I was insane
Cell phones go off
Chatter is in the air
All the sick people cough
There are noises everywhere
When that brief moment comes
As rare as a freshwater bay
Silence
It’s the loudest noise of the day
