Our meager attempt to fit in…
To fit into the world around us–
Not just to be a part of it,
But to understand it.

Deciphering life,
Putting off death,
Trying to throw off the veil of ignorance.
Only to realize how tightly wound it is.

Why do we bother
To understand life,
To make sense of the cosmos,
To fathom the unfathomable?

Perhaps because lining every foot
On the endless path to enlightenment
Is beauty–
Beauty unsurpassed

For those brief glimpses from under the veil,
The miles traveled
Seem worthwhile.
