Should We

Should we tell them that the buildings are collapsing?
Should we tell them that the levees are breaking?
Should we tell them that New Orleans is drowning?
No, we did all we could.

Should we tell them that the earth is warming?
Should we tell them that the planet is weeping?
Should we tell them that the ice is melting?
No, it’s only a theory.

Should we tell them that battles are raging?
Should we tell them that their sons are dying?
Should we tell them that Iraq is weakening?
No, we are winning the war.

They will never believe us.

They thought that “we, the people” would be fighting against their lies.
But we aren’t.
