Back Of The Math Room

Vents filled with every kind of trash,
Heat overpowering the senses,
Desk drawn on so many times that they are black,
Teacher talking but kids roaring louder,
Work being done on cell phones, no paper,
People sleeping under hood,
A bright student shines, but no one notices.

Test papers passing,
Pen scratching, screen,
Pencil sharpener grind,
Silence of minds,
Eyes flicking away,
Teacher dozing off.
Looking at birds,
The cheaters prosper.
I am done!

Sweat trickling,
Breath short,
Slow walk,
Reach out,
Take test,
Look down,
B,
How average.
