The Beginning Of The End

My last game in this gym,
Jogging onto the court,
The butterflies flying about,
The perfect season at stake.

My last game in this gym,
Decorated with fans screaming,
Thundersticks clapping, teachers observing,
And music blasting from all directions.

My last game in this gym.
Knowing that this is my final season,
That it is coming down to this one game
And the opportunity for perfection is here.

My last game in this gym,
After years of sweat, grind, and 7 A.M. practices
We line up for the start of the game,
And the ball gets tossed up to mark the beginning of the end.
