The Football

A brown football.
There it sits so resolute
So noble, so as no one dares to touch.
It’s a brown football, that no one does dispute.
But now, to one young boy, it stands for so much.
His aspirations grow with his determination, as he grips it
--        Tight in his hand.       --
His cleats dig deep into the muddy soil below,
As he finds the end zone, in a pool of pride he does stand.
His ambition and self-confidence now start to flow.
The football is just used for a game, but all in all,
So much more depends upon,
A brown football.
