Deception

That time I said I loved you,
It was all a dirty lie.
Lust quickly led to my loneliness inside.
I'm still here wondering what love is,
This couldn't have been it,
It wasn't all bliss.
We couldn't have been good together,
Two of us always mixing
Like temperamental New England weather.
You were the bitter winter snow,
And I was the summer sun,
Our task of staying together forever
Would never be done.
As I repeat this over and over,
Maybe I will trick myself to believe.
I can dig myself out of this hellish hole,
If I can deceive me.
