Highlighter

So much depends
On this fluorescent light
A bright yellow
Striking
A sharp
Slice at
A piece of paper so white.

Even a gentle press
Makes the ink run
Like a lie
Spreading from ear to ear
Innocent mind to mind.

It spreads
Spreads so fast.

Clots so fast.

You can’t control it.

I told you
It was permanent.
