Just Oats And Water

There is nothing worse
Than when you try to cook
A bowl of oatmeal
And you forget
To add everything in
The right proportions,
Or maybe you just don’t
Know any better,
And everything bubbles over the top and
Oozes down the sides,
Like lava,
So warm, so overwhelmed, so confused.

But oh,
How pure and rich the taste
When that balance is right.
