Warmth

Wood burning bright in the fireplace
Sparks erupting from the flame
Fire glowing and warming a home
A blaze shining with bright yellow light
Burns and roasts the bricks
Embers try to crawl from the fire to warm your toes
They stop to watch a flickering display
of sparks dancing in the warm air
The fire’s roar begins to hush
Wood melts into ash
Flares die and turn to smoke
A blanket of hot air rests
Sleep falls and dreams of warmth ignite
