Summer

I’ve always liked
the summer
best.
When the days
long enough
to swim until
forever.
Or at least until
the light night comes.
When black is only
navy blue,
and it wraps you up,
snug,
in its endless
forever arms.
And you feel safe in your
time capsule.
And you watch the fireflies
that twinkle,
magic,
in their glass prison.
They’re the only stars
that will come close enough
to catch.
