Hidden

What is fear?

Is fear the monster under our beds
growling and snorting in the shadows?

Or is fear trying something new?
the pinprick at our sides
butterflies fly around our body
whispering kind words,
“everything will be okay”

Is it the volcanic vulnerbililty flowing through our every being?
Innocence and secrets
snowing throughout
beginning to melt but still
Swirling through the desert of our heart

Maybe it is all of these things
the structure held up by thin strings of love and care
but tightening everyday

The mask-
a sunfilled smile
always radiant but always hidden
